Day 48: Super Bowl Sunday

J and I aren't big sports people, but we watched the Super Bowl this evening because B wanted to.  At B's school the last few Fridays, they have had "Broncos Day" and in P.E., they've practiced throwing and catching "like Payton Manning."  His friends talk about football at school, and he wants to do what his friends are doing.  So when B asked to watch some football with Dad, J couldn't deny him.  We went over to my in-laws so we could watch it (we don't have our TV hooked up for anything besides DVD watching), and I laid on their couch and bed rested for a few hours there.  B didn't really watch much, especially since he was annoyed that the Broncos didn't score for most of the game, but we enjoyed some grilled burgers and the game (I was secretly rooting for the Seahawks).  It was nice to get out of the house again, even if it was only for a few hours.  Other than that, there's not much to report.  I've had very few contractions and pregnancy-related aches and pains today, and I slept better last night than I have been (I hope that trend continues tonight).  It was a fun day, and I'm excited that tomorrow I'll be 34 weeks along.
B, annoyed that the Broncos are losing, but having fun watching the game

Day 47: Don't Tell My Doctor, But I Cheated

Today we prepped the boys' room for Baby's arrival.  I started by laying on B's bed and directing traffic- "I want those baby clothes in the wash pile,"  "Those books can go,"  "I want the dresser over there," etc.  But I quickly ended up sitting up so I could sort through our many bins of baby paraphernalia.  I pulled out blankets and clothes to wash, threw out the items we don't want anymore, and lifted bottles, baby monitors, and other equipment in and out of  storage bins.  I'm already feeling the workout, and hope it doesn't trigger labor because that just wouldn't be worth it, but I'm glad it's done.  My doctor would likely yell at me for being so active today (and so would my mother), but my cervix has been holding stable, even with contractions, and it had to be done so that B could have a room to play in (we had furniture stacked in front of his closets and toy boxes).  I didn't over-it and was sitting down the whole time with my feet up, and I  have REALLY been taking it easy the last few hours to compensate for the fury of activity this afternoon and won't exert myself like that again until I'm off bed rest in two weeks and one day (it's not like I'm counting or anything).  In all honesty though, it felt refreshing to be so productive and get something done.

My mother-in-law scored this extremely nice dresser set for us last week at a great price. We have some baby furniture in our storage unit, but it’s a little on the rickety side, and it will now be going to charity because this set is WAY nicer than anything we had for B.  We’ll use the top of the shorter dresser as a changing table (we just need to cover the top with a protective coating and add the changing pad).  J stocked the drawers with diapers, wipes, blankets, and clothes (though most of those still need to be washed).  We haven't put up the crib yet because we be using a bassinet in our room for awhile (I just have to find one).  J and I definitely like the rearrangement, and B is pleased with it as well.  I like feeling like we're ready for Baby Boy when he gets here.  The room looks great and I'm glad we got so much accomplished.

Before (See all the grey bins in the back of the closet?  That's what I went through).

Day 46: Taxes and Sleepless Nights

The last two nights, I've had A LOT of trouble sleeping.  I've started having contractions around 7 and they continue throughout the night, making it very difficult to get comfortable and sleep much.  I'm tired in the mornings, so I sleep in and then it creates a vicious cycle where I stay up late, and it's made worse because of my contractions.  I've spent the last two nights on the couch so I can be propped up (it seems to ease some of the pain), and we'll see how tonight goes since I'm having cramps and contractions at this very moment.  I'll take an Ambien tonight, and hopefully that will help me sleep and be more comfortable.  The contractions started to get bad around 33 weeks when I was pregnant with B, but hopefully I can hold on longer this time around and that the contractions won't do much to efface and dilate my cervix until this baby is further along.  Hopefully I can keep the pain manageable while I wait out these nasty contractions.

I started working on our taxes.  It gives me a project to work on while I'm laying in bed.  I'm using Turbo Tax, but gathering and compiling the information needed is more difficult while on bed rest and it's taking me a little longer than in past years.  But I since I have lots of time right now, I can't complain.  Being busy provides a distraction from my discomfort and the annoyance of being on bed rest.  J and I also worked on our budget and did some Amazon shopping for the baby today since we got rid of a lot of our equipment in the five years between pregnancies.  J is getting tired of me laying with my computer while he works on our desk top (not really interacting), watching movies, and bringing in takeout.  There's not a lot I can do while I'm on bed rest, and J isn't much of a board game player, so we'll have to get creative in the next few weeks and think of some things that we can do together while I lay in bed.  Any date night ideas you may have that are compatible with bed rest would be appreciated.
